Grandmaster Kae Bae Chun
Our, Grandmaster Chun began training more than 40 years ago in Korea and is a first
generation Taekwon Do Grandmaster, having trained with his cousin and the founder
of Taekwon Do Jido Kwan, Grandmaster Chun, Sang Sup and his brother Chun, Il Sup.
As a young black belt his mentor was Master Kim, Hyuk Nae, and was instrumental in
the development of checking techniques that became a trademark of Jido Kwan.

Training at the Chosen Yun Moo Kwan in the early days. Grandmaster Chun engaged in
weight training, gymnastics, played soccer, Yudo (Korean Judo) and is an excellent well
rounded athlete as anyone who has ever played golf with him can attest. In his early
adulthood Grandmaster Chun was chosen as a personal bodyguard of Prime Minister
Kim of Korea who was instrumental in the formation, growth and development of the
REPUBLIC OF KOREA. Grandmaster Chun became the chief instructor of the Seoul
National Police which numbered 15,000 men. In Korea every policeman, every secret
service agent and K. CIA agent had to train in Taekwon Do. The government felt that if
the general public was aware that the police are effective martial artists, that knowledge
would in itself act as a deterrent.

In the years of 1965, 66 and 67 Grandmaster Chun was the coach of the Police Bureau's
Taekwon Do team, which won many National Championships.
Coming to the United States in 1969 to teach Taekwon Do he stayed in New York City
with Master Richard (In Mun) Chun, and there helped in the training of some of his
better known students such as Joe Hayes and Gregory (Running Scared & White
Knights) Hines.

Our Grandmaster Chun and Richard Chun did some work with the New York City
Ballet, doing a show that combined the movements of Taekwon Do and Ballet and for
first time publicly demonstrated the "art" of Taekwon Do. They were both to appear on
The Tonight Show with Jonny Carson in New York.

In 1976 Grandmaster Chun began sponsoring the All American Open Championship in
Youngstown and Cleveland... A National Martial Arts Championship that brought the
best in the martial arts to Youngstown Ohio from all over the United States.
